A lantern-lit ski and snowshoeing trek through some of Mackinac Island’s natural winter wonderland.
The trail begins at Greany Grove (corner of Arch Rock Road and Huron Road) with a bonfire and hot chocolate. The trail is groomed, track set, lit by lanterns and approximately two miles long.
This is a free event sponsored by Mackinac State Historic Parks, Mackinac Island Community Foundation and the Mackinac Island Ski Club.
The Cross Country Ski areas that comprise the Great Lakes Winter Trails Council are committed to providing you with the finest and most diversified groomed cross-country skiing trails, plus service at a level that we’re sure will meet your expectations.

Well, another Winter has come and gone...If you skied at Huron Meadows Metropark, now is the time to get together and thank the people who made it a success!
After a two year Covid hiatus, the Groomer Appreciation/End of Season party is back on the schedule! Taking place April 2nd at Noon sharp at the Huron Meadows Clubhouse.
This is our opportunity to thank the people who worked so hard to give us excellent skiing all Winter. In addition to thanking the people who make the skiing possible, and general socializing, the highly coveted Golden Hamster Wheel award is back! We’re also going to do some team NSR specific awards.
It’s potluck, so please bring a dish to pass, or a drink to share (no alcohol may be brought into the park). We'll provide some basic pizzas and beverages.
Not only is this a chance to say thanks, it’s also a way to show the power of our numbers. This event has always been well attended and that speaks volumes to the park staff/directors who also attend, and they will be in attendance. One of the reasons the park committed to purchasing expensive equipment is that they know we support the program. It’s important to show we care!
For those who plan to attend, please RSVP to kroth43860@aol.com. ... See MoreSee Less

We are honored to announce that Bob Frye, after 42 years in the cross country skiing industry, has been inducted to the Michigan Ski Hall of Fame!
The induction took place on Monday, August 22nd, at the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association annual meeting and dinner. Bob, founder of Cross Country Ski Headquarters, was honored for his “major contributions in areas of organization, promotion, or development of the skiing industry in Michigan.”
During his acceptance speech, Bob thanked all the people who have believed in the mission of Cross Country Ski Headquarters: help people have fun on the snow. He made a special thanks to his wife, Lynne, who joined him early on in the business, and without whom XC Ski HQ would not be what it is today. The ceremony was attended by many members of the Michigan and Midwest ski industry, as well as Lynne, his children, and other family members. If you’d like to read Bob’s story that was featured in the ceremony program, click here:
