FROM Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes >> Snow Has Arrived!
We finally got enough snow to start building the base and setting tracks! Our team compacted, rolled, and set classic tracks from Glen Arbor to Empire. The entire trail between Glen Arbor and Empire is also perfect for fat tire biking.
Pictured above: Volunteer Tim Dowd and Executive Director Laura Ann Johnson, who had the opportunity to ride along and assist with grooming from the Dune Climb to Empire.
Ski Conditions
Empire to Glen Arbor: About 6 inches of powder compacted into a 2-inch base. These are the best conditions for skate skiing on our trail so far! With more snow in the forecast, we’re optimistic that the base will continue to grow.
Glen Arbor to Lawr Farm by Wheeler Road: 6 inches of fresh powder. We’re planning to groom this section later this week, aiming to have it ready for the weekend.
Dune Climb Sledding: Conditions look great for sledding today! Snow is covering all the sand.

FROM Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing >> Race day! The second race in the Michigan Cup series will be held today on Forbush’s man made snow terrain. Racers will be starting at 1000. Race activities should be wrapping up by noon. We have good conditions on all our other trails, groomed and ungroomed. Open 9 to 5. #forbush #snowphotos #crosscountry #SkiMichigan
FROM Vasa Trail Ski Conditions >> An inch of fluff over a thin base. Rock skis are still recommended for the occasional thin spots. Special K and the 25k from timber ridge to out past the rock parking area had reasonable coverage. Can't report on the trails near the Bartlett trailhead as I didn't ski over there. #vasa #snowphotos #crosscountry #SkiMichigan
