Cross Country Ski Headquarters is one of the premier cross country ski destinations in the Midwest, offering 19 kilometers of groomed trail, a full service day lodge and kitchen, a rental facility with 200 pairs of ski and snowshoe rentals, and a specialty retail store featuring dozens of top XC ski and clothing brands at very low prices.

According to the Let’s Move campaign, kids need at least 60 minutes of active and vigorous play each day to stay healthy. Michigan Snowsports Industries Association invites all schools to take a field trip to their nearby ski area for a special experiential learning program and lots of fun outside this winter. A field trip is best suited for kids seven years of age and older.
The School Ski Days field trip program includes:
A tour of the ski facility.
An explanation, prior to skiing, of the Skier’s Responsibility Code and safe skiing techniques.
The use of rental equipment (if needed).
A ski or snowboard lesson. Children will be divided by ability.
Information on the science of making snow.
Free time on the slopes to practice skiing and have fun!
Cost of the Program
The participating ski areas have agreed to provide the School Ski Days program as inexpensively as possible. The objective is to introduce children to skiing and snowboarding and to get them outside, enjoying Michigan’s winter in a fun, safe environment. The cost varies from ski area to ski area but will not exceed $45 per child. Many ski areas charge less. Transportation is not included. If you have children with special needs, please discuss this with the ski area, as we will do our best to accommodate all children.

Group minimum: 15
And if your group wants even more winter fun, you can add camp activities like snow tubing or broomball.

New Chairlift At Caberfae Peaks For the 2016-17 Ski Season
We are proud to announce the installation of highest chairlift in Northern Michigan! A brand new Doppelmayr, triple chair is currently being installed for the 2016/2017 season. The new chairlift will have a top elevation of 1561′ and will provide an incredible 360 degree view of the surrounding Manistee National Forest.

Today is my first day back on the slopes with our snowsports fanatics! This winter is off to a wonderful start with plenty of ❄️ and excellent conditions!
Friday: Our current plan is to have 26 slopes open, including Buck, Loki, Thor and Main Street. This will include opening the Buck, Loki, and Clipper cheirlifts, plus our two carpet lifts. In addition, we’ll have six park features up in Jester’s Alley!
Saturday: We plan to open the entire North Face plus North Face chairlift, bringing our slope count up to 37.
The weather looks favorable to continue snowmaking and adding more terrain ASAP. Lift hours from Friday, December 12 through Thursday, December 18 will be 9am - 4:30pm. We’ll begin night skiing on Friday, December 19 (9am - 9pm).
