With more than 35 beautifully-groomed kilometers of cross country delight weaving through the woods and wilds of Boyne Mountain, you’ll find plenty of room for exploration. Pack up the kids or rally your friends to sample everything we have to offer – from gentle trails through pine forests to technical terrain designed to test even the most dedicated Nordic skiers. Whatever your preference or your ability level, our trails are ready for your tracks.

Trail Passes

  • Ages 9 & up: $16 (before 4pm), $9 (after 4pm)
  • Ages 8 & under: Free

BOYNE Trail Passes allow unlimited access to our cross country and snowshoeing trails and provide one lift ride to our upper trails.

Introduction to Cross Country: $50 per person

Thinking about taking up cross-country skiing? Start off on the right foot with our expert Nordic instruction staff – and learn to love this incredible sport from the very beginning. Our Introduction to Cross Country packages include:

  • Rental equipment
  • 30 minute group lesson
  • An all day trail pass to practice your newly acquired skills
  • Available at 11am each weekday and 11am or 2pm on Saturday and Sunday

Total Cross Country Experience

Warm up to the winter’s most exhilarating workout with a 2-hour guided tour on Boyne Mountain’s exceptional cross country trails. Join one of our Nordic instructors for our Total Cross Country Experience, which includes:

  • A chairlift ride and skiing on our upper trails with outstanding vistas
  • Must be intermediate level or higher in ability
  • $75 for the first skier, plus $10 for each additional skier

Group Lessons

  • Beginner Classic or Skate style
  • 1 Hour
  • $35

Private Lessons

  • Available for Classic, Skate, or Telemark
  • 1 Hour
  • $58
  • Each additional person – $15

Equipment Rental

  • Skis, boots & poles: $20 daily
  • Performance Skate package: $25 daily

Boyne Highlands Cross Country Skiing


With more than 35 kilometers of groomed and track-set trails, there’s no better way to experience the forests and fields of Boyne Highlands than from a pair of cross-country skis. Whether you’re looking for an all-day tour, a challenging hill loop or a brisk skate, you’ll appreciate the beauty and tranquility of our beautifully maintained trail network.

Ski Mackinac – Winter Photos From Mackinac Island

Most visitors only see Mackinac Island during the warm days of summer, however, the wonders of the island are perhaps even more grand and beautiful in the winter. Uncrowded, snow-covered streets and groomed ski trails leading to stunning  vistas, make a winter trip to Mackinac Island a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Wolverine Nordic Ski Club – Ironwood, MI

Wolverine Nordic is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization with the mission to preserve and promote nordic skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking and lifelong physical fitness on the Gogebic Range of the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northeastern Wisconsin.

WOLVERINE NORDIC SKI CLUB volunteers maintain and groom the trail system which consists of 8 trails that provide 25 kilometers of both skate skiing and track-set skiing.  The rolling terrain provides trails for all levels of skiing from expert to novice. Club News

LAKE EFFECT SNOW provides us with snow that tends to arrive earlier, pile deeper and last longer than anywhere else in the Midwest.  Conditions.

THE SUGGESTED TRAIL DONATION is $10.00 a day. Donation boxes are located at all trail heads and in the chalet.  The donations are used to make payments on the loan for our Piston Bully, trail grooming fuel expenses, and to improve and maintain equipment and facilities. A season pass/membership is available.  To become a season pass holder please fill out the form and return it to the address listed.  Membership

THE WARMING CHALET/SHELTER IS OPEN!  Cookies, hot chocolate and soda is available.  The chalet is open from 8:00am until 6:00pm during the ski season.  Directions<>
