When it comes to terrain parks, no Midwestern resort has more to offer than Boyne Highlands. As the popularity of terrain parks has grown, our commitment has grown right along with it – resulting in five exceptional parks, and unparalleled variety for skiers and boarders at every level.

And for every level in between, our Funland progression park is the ideal place to refine your skills and test your tricks until you graduate to our signature Challenger Terrain Park – or try your skills in the MacGully progression park.

Boyne Mountain – Snowboarding and Terrain Parks

We could rest our laurels on our spectacular North McLouth Terrain Park, but with six other sweet terrain parks and more than 30 features to try, our regulars know: there’s plenty of variety to always find a creative line and a new challenge.

Pack up your gear and head our way – and you’ll have the chance to try our Chmielew-ski Skier/Boardercross Course in the Disciples area, session some rail and jib features in the Ramshead Terrain Park, expand on your bag of tricks in Fritz’s Progression Park, test your skills in the new Campbell’s Alley Terrain Park, and don’t forget, the Transfer Station, our “natural” terrain park where the elements are part of the landscape.

And if you’re just starting out, our Burton Riglet Park provides the perfect introduction.

Crystal Mountain’s Burton Learn-to-Ride Center

Jake Burton. It’s a legendary name in snowboarding and now, one in partnership with Crystal Mountain. Our Burton Learn-to-Ride Center (LTRC) is one of just six in the Midwest. Burton’s technology combined with a shared teaching philosophy, and commitment to terrain design that helps students progress their skills makes this the perfect place to get on a board and then get better!

What makes our Burton LTRC experience different?

The Teacher

Burton Learn-to-Ride programs feature low student-to-teacher ratios. This is a good thing because it allows the time for instructors to provide a little more personal attention during group lessons.

The Equipment

For boards, boots and bindings – Burton is the featured brand in Crystal’s fleet of rental equipment. The special beveled design of these Burton snowboards makes steering and stopping easier, building the confidence needed to help students progress their skills.

The Terrain

Kids as young as three-years-old can begin to experience the sensation of snowboarding in Crystal’s Riglet Park (open weekends), a flatland course in which instructors use a Riglet Reel to pull students across, up and over a variety of subtle features. The Totem Park Learning Area features subtle banks to help beginners engage turns and the NEW Jester’s Alley Terrain Park located on-mountain is designed for beginners ready to advance their skills.

Burton LTR group lessons include:

BURTON’S ADVENTURE RIDERS (AGES 3-6)

This beginner lesson offers kids an introduction to snowboarding by using specialized Burton equipment designed to accelerate and ease the learning process. The terrain also teaches in the Burton Riglet Park located in Totem Park. Children must be potty-trained (no pull-ups) and willing to participate.

BURTON LEARN-TO-RIDE (AGES 13+)

This program offers beginner snowboarders an introduction to the sport by use of specialized Burton equipment designed to accelerate and ease the learning process. Our instructors introduce the equipment, basic movement, gliding, stopping, turning and riding a surface lift. Available most weekends and holidays (subject to participation).

Advanced reservations are required for all group and private lessons including Burton Learn-to-Ride programs. Contact the Snowsports School at ext. 5100.
