I’ve been gearing up for awhile now to share about one of my favorite bike trails in Michigan…

M-185!!!!! Also known as Main Street when in downtown Mackinac and on the south side of the island, or Lake Shore Drive on the other parts of the island.

M-185 is an actual state highway in Michigan. And the only one in the U.S. where cars can’t even drive on it! 😆

I have a series on the best roads to road trip and wanted to cover this one, but it just feels odd calling it a great road trip road without being allowed to drive. 😅

🚲Bikes, your own legs, wheelchairs, and even horses & carriages are allowed!

🚲Compared to Mackinac’s interior, M-185 is a pretty flat and easy ride. 2 years ago, this road was closed off for construction so now the roads in great condition and easy to bike along.

Starting off just past missionpointresort in order you can see the following on this bike tour-
🌲Enter Mackinac Island State Park
💦 Dwightwood Spring
🪨 Arch Rock - the steps to take up to it are visible first, if you bike past those, you’ll see the view from above.
💦 Seasonal waterfall (just listen for it!)
🐢 Signs along the Native American Cultural History Trail
🥾 Lost Lake Nature Trail
🇬🇧 British Landing with a nature center, bathrooms, and Cannonball Oasis to grab a bite to eat, drink or ice cream! Park the bike a bit to walk to Friendship’s Altar
😈 Devil’s Kitchen
🌳 Somewhere in Time Tree
🛝 Mackinac Island Playground
📚 Mackinac Island Public Library (what a gem!!)
🌆 Downtown Mackinac Island
🐴 Mackinac Island State Park Visitors Center
🏰 Marquette Park & Fort Mackinac
🎨 The Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum
⛪️ Ste Anne’s Catholic Church
⛪️ Historic Mission Church
