Mackinac Island Cross Country Skiing
The Mackinac Island Ski club grooms trails on the east and north side of the Island in Mackinac Island State Park.
The cross country ski trails wind through the pristine woods of Mackinac Island State Park and allow the winter visitor to see all of the natural and historical landmarks of the island.
You can follow the ski trails to the interior of the island and take in the vistas from the highest point on the island at Fort Holmes. Or ski through the woods to Arch Rock and enjoy the view of Lake Huron from the bluffs on the eastern side of the island.

It’s Friday Y’all… Let’s Dance!! 💃✨
I’ve been a little stuck in a Friday Dance block lately (yes… like writer’s block, but with dancing 😉). And then my friend Jen said, “What about Unwritten?”
Instantly—yes.
This song has given me energy since the day it was released, and with winter settling in and a new year just around the corner, it feels like the perfect reminder: we can still start something new, anytime… but especially this time of year. I know I have many new things coming in 2026!
Today’s dance got me moving again, lifted my mood, and reminded me why these Fridays matter so much to me. Sometimes all it takes is the right song… and the right nudge from a friend.

Tummy Test: Awful, so much pain, but so good I even came back a second time. 🥲

For the last color, I went back and forth on a few options.
First, I printed the whole scene in a dark blue. I felt there was way too much contrast between that color and the rest of the print, so I lightened the blue up a bit.
Second, I tried the lighter - though still dark - blue for the carriage and lampposts while keeping the darker blue for the horse harnesses. That worked a bit better.
Third, I tried option 2 with a bit of lighter brown paint applied onto the horses and I liked that the best.
Sometimes I have to play around a bit to get the look I'm going for.
