Swipe to see the especially think details on this plein air from a week ago, completely finished on the spot, that I’m very excited about!
This is the third and largest I’ve done at this spot since March. I reached for larger panel than I planned. Even though it’s not huge, it was a good effort for me to finish one this size completely while the snow was out and not be finishing it back in the studio.
There was a cloud shadow on #harborspringsmichigan in the distance while the more distant ski areas #nubsnob and #boynehighlands were brightly lit only for a couple minutes.
One of those awesome little things that only happens on location that changes the whole painting.

The Donald Ross Memorial Course at highlandsharborsprings was my favorite surprise of BOYNE Golf’s 11 total courses in upper Michigan.
Featuring replica holes from legendary Ross designs that include Seminole, Pinehurst No. 2, Oakland Hills, Inverness, Aronimink, Scioto, Wannamoisett and more, DRMC is a best hits compilation that allows all golf enthusiasts to experience incredible hole designs that are otherwise mostly reserved for members of many of the country’s most prestigious private clubs.
The course architecture, flow of the layout, elevation changes, conditioning and everything else about it made it an absolute blast to play.
A lot of people have been reaching out to me lately about setting up Midwest golf trips… boyne.golf is one of my top recommendations!...
I had to sit between them on the chair because apparently 48 hours in hotel rooms is too much.
Delayed open but like 20"+ of blizzard fresh #lakeeffectsnow it was a short afternoon and still quite blustery but definitely made up for yesterday's shutdown.

Day 30. "Sometimes it do be like that" edition. Tons of snow but almost zero visibility and a relentless uphill wind.
I snuck a handful of laps while the kids lazed about (probably for the better tbh) and by the time they were ready to roll, the resort shut down. Waffles as a consolation prize.
I guess there was also lightning in the vicinity because why not have lightning in a blizzard, too?
Rolled up on a beautiful bluebird afternoon and the leftovers of yesterday's kinda big snowstorm. Too late to score any fresh, it was a chunder day but a goddamn beautiful one. The company was rad and conditions were prime.
Gonna try to ride out whatever #snowpocalypse tomorrow ushers in. 🤞

Finally made it up to boynehighlands in Harbor Springs today. Such a beautiful area right next to Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan. Their chairlifts with heated seats and bubble enclosure had us singing The Girl in the Bubble from Wicked🩷💚😂 Great spot, looking forward to going back sometime!
All the major ski and snowboard manufacturers will converge in one place with all their equipment just for you. In appreciation of your local patronage and support of our resorts and operations, Boyne Highlands Resort is pleased to offer a full day of FREE skiing/snowboarding and more to residents of Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego counties on Sunday, January 10, 2021. FREE access to the downhill trails at Boyne Highlands, plus the parks, pipes and cross country trails at our resort are available 9am to 4:30pm.
Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego county residents need only show their driver’s license or other form of identification with proof of residency at the resorts’ lift ticket windows to receive a FREE lift ticket for the day. Ages 15 and under can ski and snowboard free during Community Appreciation Day if accompanied by an adult with proof of local residency. Community Appreciation Day lift tickets are good from 9am to 4:30pm. Many other specials and discounts are offered to residents of Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego on January 10.
